Most people buying a webcam for work are choosing between 720p and 1080p, and paying between 28 € and 79 € for the difference. The useful question is not which resolution is higher. It is which of the two will make you look better on a video call at nine in the morning, in a room lit by a ceiling bulb.
We stock three Logitech webcams. This page explains what separates them, and the one feature that matters more than resolution.
What actually determines how you look
Three things, in this order of importance:
- Light on your face. A window in front of you improves any webcam more than an upgrade does. A window behind you ruins the most expensive one.
- Autofocus. A fixed-focus lens is sharp at one distance. Lean back and you go soft.
- Sensor resolution. 1080p gives you more detail, but only once the first two are solved.
The microphone is a fourth variable, and the honest position is that a laptop microphone is usually worse than the webcam's and a dedicated microphone is better than both. If you already use a headset, the webcam's microphone does not matter.

The 27,99 € option: 720p still has a place
The Logitech C310 records at 1280 × 720 with a 5 MP sensor. On a video call that is a 720p image, which is what most platforms send anyway when bandwidth is tight.
It is the right purchase in two situations: a secondary computer used occasionally for calls, or a setup where you know your connection struggles and the platform will downscale regardless. Paying for 1080p that gets compressed to 720p on the way out is money spent on nothing.
Its limit is the fixed focus. If you move around while talking — leaning back, standing up to show something — the image softens.
The 40,99 € step: 1080p without autofocus
The Brio 100 gives you Full HD at roughly the price of the entry model plus a meal. For a fixed desk position, where you sit the same distance every day, that is the sensible middle: more detail, no new problems.
What it does not add is autofocus. If you are the person who shifts position constantly on calls, read the next section before deciding.
The 78,99 € option: autofocus is the real upgrade
The C920e records 1080p with autofocus. That single difference is why it costs nearly double the Brio 100, and it is the one you notice in daily use rather than in a spec sheet.
Autofocus also makes close-up work possible: holding a document or a product to the camera and having it stay sharp. If your calls involve showing anything other than your face, this is the model that does it.
Lighting: the upgrade that costs nothing
Before spending another fifty euros on a camera, spend ten minutes on the room. Every webcam, at every price, is limited by the light it has to work with — and the failures are predictable enough to fix by moving furniture.
- A window in front of you is the best light you own. Face it, put the screen between you and it. The light is soft, it comes from the right direction, and it costs nothing.
- A window behind you is the worst. The camera exposes for the bright rectangle and turns your face into a silhouette. If you cannot move the desk, close the curtain and light yourself instead.
- A ceiling bulb directly above gives shadows under the eyes. This is the "tired on every call" look, and it is not the camera's fault. A desk lamp placed in front of you, slightly to one side and roughly at face height, removes it.
- Do not light yourself from below. A lamp on the desk pointing up at your chin reads as horror-film lighting. Raise it to eye level.
There is a fifth trick that costs nothing: the screen itself. A bright document or a white browser window in front of you throws a little light back at your face. A dark IDE does the opposite. Neither replaces a lamp, but on a laptop with no other light source the difference is visible.
Only after that does resolution decide anything — and it decides detail, not whether you look well lit.
The check before you buy
- Where will it sit? On a monitor, on a laptop lid, or on a tripod. All three here are clip-mounted; check the thickness of your screen bezel.
- Do you move? If yes, autofocus. If you sit still, resolution.
- What does your platform send? Most business tools cap outgoing video well below 1080p. Ask your IT team before paying for detail that gets discarded.
What you will not find on this page
No 4K webcam, and no ring lights. 4K on a video call is, today, mostly a number on the box: the platforms compress it and the other side rarely receives it. If you record content rather than make calls, you need a different category of camera and we would rather tell you that than sell you a webcam for a job it does not do.
We also do not claim a specific field of view in degrees for these models, because the manufacturers publish different figures depending on how they measure it.
Delivery and returns
Delivery across the EU takes 3 to 7 business days, with shipping calculated at checkout by destination. Returns within 14 days. Every webcam carries the 2-year EU legal warranty.
Frequently asked questions
Is 720p still acceptable in 2026?
Yes, for calls. Most video platforms transmit 720p or less by default, so the difference on a normal call is smaller than the specification suggests.
Do I need autofocus?
Only if you move during calls or show objects to the camera. For a fixed seating position, fixed focus is fine.
Will a webcam work with my laptop's built-in camera disabled?
Yes. Once connected, the operating system lists it as a separate camera and you select it in the application.
Do these include a privacy shutter?
Check the individual product page for the model you are considering; this varies within the range.
Can I use it on a desktop without a monitor clip?
Yes, the clip also acts as a stand for a flat surface.
Can I return it if I do not like it?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to return it in the condition it arrived with its accessories. That is the EU distance-selling period, not the 30 days some retailers advertise.
How long does delivery take and what does it cost?
Between 3 and 7 business days from dispatch. The cost depends on weight and destination and is calculated at checkout before you pay; there is no free shipping.
What warranty do they carry?
2 years against manufacturing defects, handled by us rather than by the manufacturer, so you do not deal with their service centre.
Is the stock shown real?
Yes. The unit counts in each block come from the catalogue inventory at the time of writing, and the product page shows live stock.

Where we ship from, and on what terms
Orders leave our EU warehouse and arrive in 3 to 7 business days. Shipping is calculated at checkout by weight and destination — we do not offer free shipping, and the cost is shown before you pay.
You have 14 days from delivery to return an item under EU distance-selling rules, provided it comes back in the condition it arrived with its accessories. Every item carries a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, handled by us rather than by the manufacturer.
What we do not sell, and why
This article reviews reference models from the market because readers compare against them. Not all of them are in our catalogue, and the prices shown next to them are market references, not an offer. What we do sell is the selection above: real units, with the price you see and a two-year warranty.
We do not invent specifications: where the manufacturer does not publish a figure in the product data, this page does not fill the gap, and we do not claim compatibilities or output figures that the product itself does not declare. We also do not include installation or accessories that are not in the box.
